Project Introduction
Located opposite Dandenong Plaza, also acquired by Pelligra, the hotel underwent a major rebrand and refurbishment to become Holiday Inn Dandenong, marking Pelligra’s first hotel project in Melbourne. Situated within Dandenong’s vibrant and multicultural neighbourhood, the project forms part of Pelligra’s broader vision to revitalise the area surrounding Dandenong Plaza, bringing renewed energy and opportunity to an established part of the community.
The refurbishment focused on revitalising the existing hotel while introducing the contemporary Holiday Inn brand across its guest rooms, public spaces and amenities. The design balanced the brand’s modern, welcoming character with practical considerations for hotel operations, creating a refreshed and cohesive experience for both guests and staff.
Guestroom Designs
My role involved coordinating with GSA Interiors to deliver the refurbishment, while working closely with Pelligra’s executive team throughout the design and delivery process. A key focus was redesigning the guestrooms to work within the constraints of the existing building, developing solutions that were more cost-efficient, efficient to assemble and practical for hotel operations.
The materials palette was developed in response to the Holiday Inn brand, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment suited to family and leisure travel. Vibrant contrasting colours are paired with warm timber tones and durable finishes to bring a sense of energy and comfort to the guestrooms while maintaining a practical approach to hotel use.
