Project Introduction
Located in Mawson Lakes, just north of Adelaide, Crowne Plaza Mawson Lakes is set within a picturesque neighbourhood surrounded by waterways, landscaped parklands and a tranquil suburban setting. The hotel is also positioned close to a private airfield and Adelaide’s historic submarine harbour, while remaining approximately 15 km from Adelaide CBD.
The project involved the rebranding and repositioning of the existing Holiday Inn into a Crowne Plaza, requiring the design to evolve to meet the brand’s elevated standards and guest experience expectations. My role was to help translate the design team’s vision into a cohesive, deliverable hotel environment, working closely with consultants, contractors, suppliers and the broader project team throughout the design and delivery process.
Guestroom Design
Alongside my design management responsibilities, I also developed the design for the guestroom joinery and hotel corridors. This involved translating the Crowne Plaza brand ideals and design benchmarks into a refined guest experience, while incorporating an aesthetic distinctive to the Pelligra brand. The design was shaped around the needs of the sophisticated business traveller, balancing comfort, functionality and a timeless colour palette to create an environment that feels both contemporary and enduring.
